A Life-Long Passion for Minnesota. Tom was born in 1961 and raised in the great state of Minnesota. Elected to Congress for the first time in 2014, Congressman Emmer is proud to serve the 6th congressional district and to serve as House Majority Whip.
Tom is focused on fighting the affordability crisis to restore energy independence and provide immediate economic relief to Minnesota families struggling with the high costs of groceries, gas, and electricity.
Tom supports commonsense policies in Congress, such as the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to require a proof of citizenship before registering to vote and to mandate states like Minnesota remove ineligible voters off their voter rolls.
Tom led the charge to pass the strongest border security bill in decades (H.R. 2) that will help stop the flow of fentanyl, gangs, and terrorist threats into Minnesota and our country.
