Congressman Tom Emmer Files for Reelection to Continue Representing MN-06

Otsego, MN – Today, Congressman Tom Emmer announced his filing to run for a fourth term in Congress, representing Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District. Emmer was endorsed by acclamation during the Sixth Congressional District Republican Convention on May 2, 2020, and also serves as the Chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC).

“It has been an absolute honor and privilege to represent the people of Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District. Although the past few months have been challenging for every Minnesotan, I am confident that we as a nation have what it takes to recover, rebuild, and emerge stronger than ever. I remain dedicated to bringing Minnesota’s values to Washington and look forward to doing everything I can to ensure that each and every one of us are able to enjoy the freedoms and opportunities that make our state and this country one of a kind.”

Emmer Statement on 2018 Election Victory

Following a decisive victory in his reelection bid to continue serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) released the following statement:

“Thank you to every Minnesotan who participated in our great democracy by casting their vote. I am humbled and honored to have the support of Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District for a third term in Washington.

“I want to thank every staff member and volunteer for their dedication and hard work, putting in thousands of hours for our team and believing in our cause. Guided by our Midwest values, I look forward to building on past successes, seizing new opportunities and taking on new challenges as we continue to build a better future for Minnesota and this nation.”

Taking Action on Opioids

The United States is in the grips of one of the most insidious addiction crises in our history, driven not by illicit drugs purchased in clandestine transactions, but ones made available in retail outlets by trusted professionals.

More than 63,000 people died from a drug overdose in 2016 – roughly 174 people every day. Two-thirds of these 2016 overdose deaths involved an opioid.  In Minnesota, the increase in drug overdose death rates from 2015 to 2016 was one of the most significant in the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 672 Minnesotans died from opioid overdoses in 2016 alone.

We are losing our family members, friends and loved ones.
